Lyn Lusi's April Field Update

Goma, DR Congo

April 21, 2011

Dear friends,

You were praying for the meeting of Rega tribal chiefs in Kampene.  This was a small meeting of leaders of a very big tribe; their traditional chiefs are steeped in witch craft.  But they too decided to put limits on the abuses of their customs, and promised to get the message out to every community and set up systems to follow up and see that they are obeyed.  That is certain, because they are so feared.

At the end of the week, three of the most redoubtable chiefs came to Mama Muliri and told her: “We recognize the power of God in you.  Now we will bless you.”
Here they are in the yard of the Wamama Simameni house, in their full regalia, blessing her in the name of God.

And these women are brave for other reasons:  how would you like to travel on these roads?

Or these bridges at night?

Or these bridges at night?

Please pray for Louise Bashige in Mutwanga with Ushindi project,  (that’s in the foothills of Mount Rwenzori, an area infested by Ugandan rebels.  She is teaching democratic governance and management to local organizations who are working with us for gender equity and against sexual violence.  Here she is with her intrepid team.

And this is what they came through:

And this is what they came through:

They need your prayers, for good health and safety, and for a passion that will keep them going.
Have a good evening.
