HEAL Africa helped respond in Walikale crisisHEAL Africa was called to help respond in Walikale last month. The hospital in Goma received victims most damaged in the latest round of violence. HEAL Africa is responding to rape and has been for the past seven years. Medical care is provided through a series of counselors in North Kivu and Maniema provinces, linked by phone and a network of trust. Read more: Tribal Chiefs, Wamama Simameni and Heal My People Psychosocial care and counseling are provided, as is vocational training and business skills as women with extensive damage are reintegrated into communities. And community leadership is supported as it re-examines long-held traditions and views about women, children and marriage. |
