Mama Muliri, Heal My People gender-based violence program

Jeanne Muliri Kabekatyo "Mama Muliri" has worked in community development in eastern D.R. Congo for the past three decades. In 2005, Ms. Kabekatyo pioneered the Heal My People program, HEAL Africa’s holistic response to victims of gender-based violence. Currently, she heads HEAL Africa’s long-term strategic response to gender-based violence: "Gender and Justice,” an approach that involves community discussion and action on practices, culture, and the new laws of Congo designed to protect women and children.
